Mike D. Merrill, The Baconator & The Motivator

Mike D. Merrill, The Baconator & The Motivator

I come to you from the Big Design Conference in Dallas, Texas today!

At the beginning of this year I knew I needed to get my tail in gear. As a social media enthusiast and online brand management wanna be expert, I’ve known for quite some time I need to do a better job of practicing what I preach. I’m great at my job (product marketing and online brand management) and telling friends how they can better promote themselves and their business. Yet, I have always found it exhausting to take a dose of my own medicine.

I registered this domain a while back with the intention of kicking off my blog/personal branding campaign and for lack of a better phrase I have completely underwhelmed myself. Back when I was feeling motivated, I signed up to come to The Big Design conference and as the months passed and I began to slack more and more, I started to regret it. Possibly my day of vacation from work would be better spent sleeping and packing (I’ll be living it up in Oak Lawn area come about 1 week). But alas, I rolled outta bed, brushed my teeth (you’re welcome), meet a new friend by getting lost trying to find the Hughes-Triggs Student Center on SMU campus where the conference is being held, and strolled in just in time to hear Mike D Merrill give an awesome and inspiring presentation on  personal branding. I knew of all the things he spoke of, but have lacked the will to get started on them.

So thanks to Mike and my re-re-re-realization that I need to get on the ball, I am writing this post to get my creative juices flowing again. At the end of the day expect a re-cap of my experiences at The Big Design Conference and in the upcoming weeks expect more ramblings from me but mostly information you can use to get a foothold in the social realm online. In the meantime check out Mike’s blog, Social Media Club Dallas,  and Ignite Dallas (which I’ll be attending next week).
